What is NDA?
National Defense Academy (NDA) is an institution of global excellence in military education. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA examination twice a year to recruit the most eligible candidates into NDA. This exam is generally conducted in April (NDA I) and September (NDA II). Only male candidates who have passed 12th can apply for this exam.
Through NDA I and NDA II, UPSC seeks to fill officer level vacancies in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Naval Academy vacancies are also filled through the NDA examination. The most important stage in the selection process of NDA is the rigorous 5-day exam which is conducted to select the best candidate. During these 5 days, the candidates are tested on various grounds including their speed, intelligence, presence of mind, and psychological and physical fitness.

The Commission will release NDA 1 Application Form 2024 online on December 20, 2023 at upsc.gov.in. Eligible candidates can fill the NDA 1 2024 application form in two parts. In Part I, they will have to complete One Time Registration (OTR) for UPSC NDA Exam 2024 by filling basic information. In Part II, they have to log in and proceed to fill the application form and pay the exam fee.
Candidates can edit details in NDA application form 2024 within the due date of application. The NDA 2024 registration fee for general category candidates is Rs 100, while SC/ST candidates, JCOs, NCOs and sons of ORs are exempted from paying the fee for the NDA application form 2024.
NDA 2024 Exam Pattern
Along with knowing the syllabus, it is advised to also know about the NDA Exam Pattern 2024. The exam pattern includes stages of exam, time duration and marking scheme etc. UPSC NDA exam is held in pen and paper mode. The NDA examination consists of two papers, Mathematics and General Aptitude Test (GAT). Duration of the each test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Mathematics paper contains a total of 120 questions while the GAT paper contains 150 questions.
The maximum marks allotted for the written test is 900. As per the marking scheme, candidates with correct answers in Mathematics will receive 2.5 marks. Candidates will get 4 marks for correct answers in GAT. For wrong answer, 1/3rd mark of the marks assigned to that particular question will be deducted as penalty. SSB Interview will be held for 900 marks.

NDA SSB Interview 2024
SSB Interview will be conducted for the assessment of intelligence and personality test. Candidates who have qualified in the written examination have to appear in 2 stages interview process conducted by the officials. Candidates qualifying for the interview round are required to submit birth certificate and passing certificate. UPSC NDA 2024 Selection Process
UPSC NDA is an examination process which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to provide opportunities to the youth of the country who want to join the defense jobs. The selection for Defense Jobs through NDA Exam 2024 will be conducted in two phases:
- Written exam
- Intelligence and Personality Test (SSB)
Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for personality test which will be conducted to check intelligence and personality. Candidates have to pass both the stages to get their name in the merit list. Merit list/final result will be prepared by UPSC along with the cumulative score of written examination and will be considered for final selection by SSB.
NDA 2024 Admit Card
The examination authorities will release the NDA Admit Card 2024 in online mode only. NDA 2024 Admit Card will be released at upsc.gov.in. Those candidates who have successfully submitted the application form will be issued NDA Admit Card 2024. To download NDA 2024 admit card, candidates have to use their registration number or roll number on the official website.
UPSC NDA Admit Card 2024 will contain information like candidate’s name, exam center details, date, exam time, roll number, category, photograph, signature and exam day guidelines etc. Candidates need to carry their admit card to the examination center along with any one of the prescribed photo identity proof – Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, PAN Card or Passport.
NDA 2024 Result
The examination authorities will declare the NDA Result 2024 in online mode only. UPSC declared the result of NDA 2024 at upsc.gov.in. The result will be declared in online mode in PDF format and will include the roll numbers and names of all qualified candidates. Based on UPSC NDA Result 2024, candidates are selected for SSB interview. After which UPSC will prepare final merit list.
Final merit list is prepared on the basis of written examination as well as SSB Interview. Final admission will be given to the candidates on the basis of their rank according to the merit list. UPSC also releases the scorecard of NDA 2024 examination on its official website within 15 days from the date of declaration of final NDA Result 2024. NDA 2024 Scorecard will be available for downloading for a period of 30 days.
