TANCET Result 2024: Normalisation of Marks

The TANCET Exam is conducted for MBA and MCA Programs. Normally there is no requirement for normalization of marks as the entrance test is conducted in a single shift. Those who have taken the entrance exam for ME/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ Plan courses will have to face normalization of scores for the first two parts of the examination.

The question paper of the Tamil Naidu Common Entrance Test is divided into three parts –

• Part I (Engineering Mathematics),
• Part II (Basic Engineering & Sciences) and
• Part III (meant for different disciplines).

Part I and II are common for all the programs, while Part III is different based on the individual’s course. As a result, the mean mark as well as the standard deviation varies as per the disciplines in Part III. To bring uniformity in these variations, the marks are normalized.

The formula for normalization of marks: 

Normalized Marks = 40 + (10/Standard Deviation) X (Raw marks – Mean marks)
