WBCS 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Through official recruitment notification, West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) will release the WBCS Eligibility Criteria 2024. Applicants have to read the WBCS Eligibility Criteria 2024 carefully. The minimum height requirement for male applicants to the West Bengal Police Service (Group “B”) is 1.65 metres, while the minimum height requirement for female applicants is 1.50 metres. WBCS 2024 Application Form

Applicants can apply for WBCS Exam 2024 via the official website of WBPSC. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility requirements for EWS and who have previously submitted applications for the examination and have valid “Annexure C” can update their information in this regard using the link on the Commission’s website. EWS applicants must print out their updated information and save a copy for future use. Applicants can apply for WBCS 2024 by doing following:

  • Go to official website of WBPSC.
  • To register, click on the “One Time Registration” option on the WBPSC webpage.
  • Enter the necessary information for your registration ID and password.
  • WBPSC will send you an email or an SMS.
  • To log in use the same registration ID and password that you just used to register.
  • Please provide the information requested.
  • After paying the application fee, submit the form, take print out of it and save it for later use.

  • For general candidates, the application fee will be Rs 210 including bank charges.
  • There will be no application fee for SC / ST candidates.
  • Payment of examination fee can be made online or offline.
  • To use the offline approach, a challan should be made before the due date of filling the application form.

WBCS Eligibility Criteria Important Points 

  • Devices containing digital and electrical components, such as smartwatches and smartphones, are prohibited in the examination room.
  • Except for water bottles, candidates are not allowed to bring any food or beverages inside the examination area.
  • Borrowing of stationary is not permitted in the hall. Applicants are required to bring their own stationery.
  • Additionally, the applicant should be proficient in Bengali language, both written and spoken.
  • Candidates should be willing to work in the areas mentioned by the appropriate department.

Two and a half hours are given to complete the WBCS Prelims question paper. Candidates who qualify the preliminary exam are invited for the main WBCS exam. The preliminary exam portion is given in the official notice. The preliminary examination will consist of the following sections:

WBCS Main Examination is the most important component of the examination process as the final WBCS result is determined by the marks scored in the Main Examination. WBCS Prelims Syllabus 2024

WBCS preliminary exam is expected to be conducted in June 2024 at various locations in Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and three hilly sub-divisions of Darjeeling district, Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik and Kurseong can appear only at Darjeeling Centre. There are eight areas or themes in the WBCS Preliminary Curriculum.

There are a total of 200 questions (MCQs), each subject carrying 25 marks. The duration will be 2.5 hours. Based on their performance in the preliminary examination all the candidates are shortlisted for the main examination round. The final merit list will not be determined without taking into consideration the results obtained in the WBCS preliminary examination. WBCS Mains Syllabus 2024

Candidates who qualify the preliminary examination and are eligible will be invited to take the WBCS Main Examination. WBCS Main Syllabus has six required papers and one optional subject which is divided into two examinations. 200 marks are awarded for each main paper and the examination for each paper lasts for three hours.

WBCS Personality exam Syllabus 

Every candidate who satisfies the requirements for the WBCS Main Examination is invited for the Personality Test. The exam aims to evaluate the candidate’s character qualities, such as leadership, intellectual and moral integrity, logical and clear presentation skills, and awareness of a variety of topics.

Each candidate will be asked questions on topics of general interest. Each service group receives different marks in the personality test. The following defines each group’s personality test scores:

WBCS Notification Selection Process 2024

WBCS examination is usually conducted by WBPSC to select officers for various posts. There are three stages in the entire WBCS selection process: Preliminary, Mains and Interview. To reach the final selection round, candidates will have to go through each stage. The preliminary round will be qualifying only, which means the preliminary scores will not be included in the final merit list. For Prelims there is only one GS paper.

The WBCS 2024 Main Examination consists of one optional subject paper, two examinations of 200 marks and six papers. WBPCS offers a list of optional subjects on its official website. Any of the optional subjects in the list can be selected by the candidates based on their interests and preferences. To determine the merit list, the results of WBCS 2024 Personality Test will be added to the results of WBCS Main Exam. On the basis of merit list, list of eligible applicants will be suggested for recruitment.
