UPPSC PCS Number of Attempts
In the context of UPPSC examination, candidates have the opportunity to appear for the examination multiple times without any prescribed limit on the number of attempts, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria. This means that all categories of persons are welcome to take part in the UPPSC examination, provided they fulfill the necessary qualifications and requirements.
UPPSC PCS 2024 Exam Pattern
UPPSC exam pattern will be released by the exam officials in the official notification. UPPSC 2024 examination will be conducted in three phases.

UPPSC Preliminary Exam Pattern
- There will be two question papers in the preliminary exam.
- The question paper is objective in nature.
- There will be a negative marking i.e. 1/3 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer
- Two papers – General Studies Paper I and II.
- Conducted for 200 marks
- Duration: 2 hours
- Offline mode.
- Both papers consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
- There will be close to 150 to 100 questions in Paper 1.
- Paper 2, on the other hand, is a qualifying paper. Candidates have to have a minimum of 33% to qualify for this paper.
- The merit of candidates will be determined based on marks they obtain in Paper 1.
UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern

UPPSC PCS 2024 Selection Process
Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personal Interview are the three stages of UPPSC selection process. To get selected by the Commission for the posts of SDM, DSP, BDO, BSA etc., candidates will have to qualify all the stages of the examination.
The candidates who will be called for the UPPSC Main Exam are those who have qualified the UPPSC 2024 Preliminary Exam.
