Eligibility Criteria

- Nationality: Must be an Indian, or Bhutan, or Nepal, or Indian origin migrants who have settled permanently in India from
- East African Countries of Uganda,
- Kenya, Pakistan,
- The United Republic of Tanzania,
- Ethiopia,
- Malawi,
- Sri Lanka,
- Vietnam,
- Zaire,
- Burma, or
- a Tibetan refugee who settled in India permanently before January 1, 1962, with the certificate issued by the Government of India
- Age Limit:
- Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’): 21 to 32 years
- Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A): 21 to 35 years
- Age Relaxation for reserved categories is as below
- SC/ ST: 05 years
- OBC: 03 years
- Defence Services Personnel: 03 years
- Ex-servicemen: 05 years
- ECOs/ SSCOs: 05 years
- PwD Candidates: 10 years
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in the respected subjects and fields
UPSC Geo-Scientist Application Fee
Individuals have to pay the UPSC Geo-Scientist application fee by any of the following methods:
- To pay the offline fee, individuals have to generate a challan and deposit the cash to any SBI Branch. Pay by cash mode will be closed one day before the last date to apply online.
- For online mode, individuals can make payments via SBI Net Banking/ Visa / Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card/ Internet Banking of SBI.

The Union Public Service Commission also provides application form withdrawal facilities. Individuals can get the link to withdraw the Geo-Scientist application form on the official website of UPSC. It will allow individuals who have earlier filled out the UPSC Geo-Scientist application form but cannot appear in the examination, to withdraw their submitted application form and cancel their online registration. However, once the online application fee is paid for the UPSC Geo Scientist Exam 2025 at the time of registration, it will not be refunded under any circumstances.
