Age Relaxation –Age Relaxation in upper limit will be given to only reserved categories of permanent resident of Odisha with having Odisha State Domicile certificate as per government rules and regulations. Note – The Candidates seeking age relaxation as per Govt. Guidelines will be required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) at any subsequent stage of the selection process, as required by the OPSC.

Reservation and Relaxation –
Reservation & Relaxation will be given to only reserved & Special categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/EXSM /Women/ Sports Person /PWBD etc. ) of permanent resident of Odisha with having Odisha State Domicile certificate as per government rules and regulations. Reservation guidelines as laid down by Government of India from time to time for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWBD etc. shall be followed. Candidates claiming reservation under reserved categories should submit certificate as per the Govt. Prescribed format issued from the competent certifying authority. Candidates other than from Odisha State will not be given any relaxation and treated as General Category Candidate.

Exam / Interview Date /Centre – The Written Examination will be held tentatively in the month of June, 2025. The Date of Examination, detailed Schedule and Centre of Examination will be notified in due course on official website.
Place of Examination –
The Venue of the Written Examination for the posts of Assistant Industries Officer will be located at Cuttack / Bhubaneswar / any other place as decided by the Commission.
Exam Pattern –
Selection Method –
(a) The selection of candidates for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Industries Officer shall be made on the basis of Written Examination & Personality Test (Interview).
(b) The Written Examination shall comprise of two (02) papers namely:
(i) Paper I – General English, General Awareness and General Aptitude 100 marks
(ii) Paper-II – Basic Engineering – 300 marks.
(c) Both Paper I & Paper-II shall consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ pattern).
(d) Paper – I shall consist of 100 questions, each carrying one (01) mark.
(e) The time duration of Paper – I shall be 02 hours.
(f) Paper-II shall consist of 150 questions, each carrying two (02) marks.
(g) The time duration of Paper-II shall be three (03) Hours.
(h) There shall be negative marking for each wrong answer/ response with a deduction of 25% of marks allotted to a particular question in both the papers.
(i) There shall be no deduction for un-attempted questions.
(j) The detailed scheme of examination and syllabus for the Written Examination (Two papers) is enclosed at Annexure – I.
(k) The Qualifying Marks to be eligible to be called for the Personality Test is 35% in the Written Examination out of 400 Marks for UR Category candidates and 30% for SEBC/SC/ST & PWD Category candidates. However, the Commission, at its discretion, may lower the qualifying marks further for all/ specific categories of candidates only if sufficient number of candidates are not available to appear for the Personality Test. The qualifying marks for Sports Person and Ex-Servicemen will be same as their respective caste category as above.
(l) The Personality Test shall be of 50 marks.
(m) The qualifying candidates will be shortlisted for the Personality Test based on the Marks secured in the Written Examination out of 400 Marks in a ratio of 1:2 of the advertised vacancies. In case where the vacancy is 2 or less, 5 numbers of candidates will be called for the Personality Test.”
(n) On the basis of the result of the competitive examination (Written Examination & Personality Test), the Commission shall prepare a list of successful candidates found suitable for appointment in order of merit subject to reservation for different categories.
(0) Where two or more candidates secure equal marks in the aggregate the following principle shall be adopted: –
If two or more candidates secure equal marks in the aggregate, the order of merit shall be determined in accordance with highest marks secured by such candidates in the written examination.
In case of further tie (i.e. marks obtained in aggregate & as well as written examination), the merit will be arranged in order of date of birth (i.e. the older in age will be ranked higher).
Note: Any details relating to this recruitment like cut-off marks, answer keys, individual marks etc. shall only be declared on the website of the Commission after publication of the final results and select list.
