(a) General Duty (GD)

(i) Should hold a degree from a recognized university. (ii) Mathematics and Physics as subject up to Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent. The candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible, provided they should possess a diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum. |

OR Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognized by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE)(II) Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics. Medical Standards –
A) Height :
(i) Asst Commandant (GD) and Tech: 157 cms minimum. Reduction in minimum height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.
B) Weight : Proportionate to the Height and Age, +- 10 % acceptable.
C) Chest : Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms.
D) Hearing : Normal
E) Eye Sight :
(i) Asst Commandant (GD) 6/6, 6/9 – Uncorrected without Glass & 6/6 6/6 – Corrected with Glass.

Age Relaxation –Age Relaxation in upper limit will be given to only reserved categories as per government rules and regulations. Note – The Candidates seeking age relaxation as per Govt. Guidelines will be required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) at any subsequent stage of the selection process, as required by the Indian Coast Guard.

Reservation and Relaxation –
Reservation & Relaxation will be given to only reserved & Special categories as per government rules and regulations. Reservation guidelines as laid down by Government of India from time to time for SC/ST/OBC/etc. shall be followed. Candidates claiming reservation under reserved categories should submit certificate as per the Govt. Prescribed format issued from the competent certifying authority.
Selection Process –
The selection comprises five stages:
- Stage I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT):
- A computer-based online screening test with 100 multiple-choice questions.
- Subjects: English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science & Mathematical Aptitude, and General Knowledge. (25 Questions from each subject)
- The test comprises of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) carrying four marks for each correct answer and one negative mark for each incorrect answer. The duration of the test will be of two hours (02 hrs.) and medium of test paper will be English.
- All India Category wise merit lists for Stage – I will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in Stage-I (CGCAT) examination. If there is a tie at the last shortlisted candidate, then all the candidates having same marks as the last candidate will be shortlisted for stage II (PSB). Indian Coast Guard has the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects of the examination for shortlisting of candidates for stage-II.
- Stage II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB):
- Computerized Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT)
- .The CCBT will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English, Hindi or combination of both. The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying nature.
- Stage III: Final Selection Board (FSB):
- Psychological Test, Group Task, and Personal Interview (Personality Test) , Document Verification
- Stage IV: Medical Examination:
- Conducted at Base Hospital, New Delhi.
- Stage V: Induction:
- Training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
Exam / Interview Date /Centre – The last date of induction at INA will tentatively be 27 Dec 2025. The exact date will be mentioned in Appointment letter. No further induction will be undertaken after 31 Dec 2025 under any circumstance. The training at INA, Ezhimala is scheduled to commence in Early Jan 2026
