• A medical Qualification included in the I or II schedule or part II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (Persons possessing qualifications included in part II of the third schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in section 13 (3) of the Act.)
• A recognized postgraduate qualification e.g., MD/ MS or recognized qualification equivalent here to in the respective discipline/ subject. AND/ OR
• M.Ch. for surgical Super specialty and D.M. for Medical Super specialty (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

Experience:

• Fourteen years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D./ M.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto. OR
• Twelve years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the Degree of M.Ch/ D.M. (2 years or 5 years course recognized after MBBS). OR
• Eleven years of teaching and/ or research experience for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized Degree of D.MM. Ch.

Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:

• A postgraduate qualification e.g., Master’s degree in the discipline.
• A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the concerned discipline.

Experience:

Fourteen years of teaching and/ or research experience in the discipline/ subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate degree.

Experience:

Ten years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D. /M.S. or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

Essential for Super specialty disciplines:

• Same as Professor (Medical)
• D.M. in the respective discipline/ subject for medical super specialty and M.Ch. in the respective discipline/ subject for surgical super specialty (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

Experience:

• Eight years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./ M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS).OR
• Seven years of teaching and/or research experience for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized degree of D.M./ M.Ch.

Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:

1 & 2 are the same as for Professor (Non-Medical)

Experience:

Ten years of teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/ subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate degree.

Experience:

Six years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D./ M.S. or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

Essential for Super specialty disciplines:

• Same as Professor(Medical)
• D.M. in the respective discipline/ subject for medical super specialty and M.Ch. in the respective discipline/subject for surgical super specialty (2 years or 3 years or 5 years recognized course) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

• Four years of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS). OR
• Three years of teaching and/ or research experience for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized degree of D.M./ M.Ch.

Six years of teaching and/ or research experience in the discipline/ subject concerned after obtaining the doctorate degree.

• One year of teaching and/ or research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree of D.M./ M.Ch. (2 years or 5 years recognized course after MBBS) or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
• However, no experience is necessary for the candidates possessing the 3 years recognized degree of D.M/ M.Ch. or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
